Activist GD Agarwal, who was on an indefinite fast since June 22 to urge the government to clean river Ganga, has died at the AIIMS hospital in Rishikesh. He was 87.

The noted environmentalist reportedly had a heart attack. He was reportedly shifted to AIIMS october 10 after being on fast for 109 days. The Save Ganga activist had previously held fasts too over the river.

Aggarwal has served the nation as a Professor of IIT. He has categorically alleged that government is boasting that they are making efforts to clean Ganga but in reality they are doing politics on the name of Ganga because each and every person is deeply associated with Ganga.
