Disaster-2013 theme based art museum launched in Doon

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has inaugurated the Uttara samkalin kala sangrahalaya (Uttara contemporary art museum), which was approved by the former chief minister Harish Rawat in september 2016, here in Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna complex here in dehradun on Wednesday. As its theme is disaster 2013 so people can get a feel of devastation of June -2013, in which thousands of people lost their lives.

In his address CM Rawat said that art museum is special assets of the state. With this state budding artists would get a plateform and even established artists would also get a plateform to exhibit their art. He asked the officials to take selected young artist of the state to delhi art gallery so that they would get better understanding.

As state culture department would take care of it, so he asked them to make consistent flow of fund for its maintenance. Later he also released a coffee-table book on this occasion.

Noted painter & artist surendra pal joshi expressed thanks to the chief minstier for showing his personal attention that is why the art gallery has opened today.

Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has constructed the museum under the guidance of noted painter Joshi. Now its operation will be done by the culture department. As we know that the museum’s construction work had begun in the September 2016. Its total cost is Rs 1.92 crore including painting and craft too. It has spread over the area of 408 square meter. Its first floor is dedicated for the exhibition of art. The museum’s theme is disaster 2013 and it is first in the country. Here people can imagine the devastation 2013 and how people managed to save their life.

Other dignitaries including cabinet colleague madan Kaushik, MLA khazan das, MDDA VC vinay Shankar Pandey, director culture Veena Bhatt and others were present there.
