Uttarakhand government has renamed the Government Nursing College, Dobh (Shrikot), Pauri, as “Late Ankita Bhandari Government Nursing College, Dobh (Shrikot), Pauri.” A notification was issued on Thursday by Dr R. Rajesh Kumar, Secretary, Medical Health and Medical Education Department.
The decision comes a day after Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Virendra Singh Bhandari and Soni Devi, parents of the late Ankita Bhandari, and assured them that the state government stands firmly with the bereaved family. During the meeting, the Chief Minister reiterated that ensuring justice for Ankita remains the government’s top priority.
CM Dhami also assured Ankita’s parents of legal, impartial, and swift action on the demands placed before the government. He emphasized that the state government is committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure justice and to honor the memory of Ankita.
The renaming of the nursing college is being seen as a step towards paying tribute to Ankita Bhandari and reaffirming the government’s resolve to stand with her family while upholding justice and sensitivity in the matter.
