An inter-ministerial central team (IMCT) has visited disaster-affected areas of Rudraprayag district on Tuesday. They assess the extent of damage and review ongoing relief and rehabilitation work.
At the District Office Auditorium, District Magistrate Prateek Jain briefed the team on the damage to assets, loss of life, and measures taken for recovery. The IMCT later traveled by road to Bareth and interacted with villagers, officials, and local administration about damage assessment and reconstruction activities. Villagers expressed appreciation for the swift response of the district administration, police, NDRF, SDRF, DDRF, and other agencies in managing relief and rescue operations.
The team also conducted an aerial and ground survey of severely affected areas including Chhainagad, Taljaman, Bagdatok, Jaula, Dungar Bhatwadi, and Syur. They closely examined damage to infrastructure and resources, as well as arrangements for food, drinking water, medical assistance, temporary shelters, and road restoration.
IMCT leader Dr. R. Prasanna, Joint Secretary, Government of India, said the team is compiling information from field visits, aerial surveys, and discussions with officials to prepare a detailed report for the Centre. “Based on this report, concrete steps will be taken for rehabilitation of affected families, restoration of infrastructure, and long-term disaster mitigation,” he said.

He informed that compensation for houses completely damaged in the disaster has been increased from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh, as directed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A proposal worth ₹1,850 crore has also been placed before the committee for damage repair and rehabilitation works in the district during this monsoon season.
