Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has conducted a suprised inspection of the Secretariat and reviewed cleanliness and administrative arrangements on Monday.
During the inspection, Bardhan emphasized the urgent need to weed out old files cluttering various sections. He directed that rules regarding the file-weeding process be re-circulated and made it mandatory for all departments to complete the exercise within one month. He further instructed the Secretary, Secretariat Administration, to immediately identify a location for a proper record room where essential files, after weeding, can be systematically stored.
Taking cognizance on over overcrowding in some sections where multiple units are operating from a single room, the Chief Secretary directed officials to arrange porta cabins within the Secretariat premises to relocate 10–12 sections. He also ordered the re-circulation of the inspection roster, making it mandatory for officers to inspect their respective sections within the stipulated timeframe.
Bardhan stressed that all basic amenities in Secretariat buildings must be ensured for employees and smooth functioning. Secretary Deependra Kumar Chaudhary, Additional Secretary Laxman Singh and others were present during the inspection.
