The Char Dham Yatra and the registration of pilgrims, which had been suspended since September 1 due to adverse weather conditions, was resumed today following the order of Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey.
The suspension was initially imposed in view of heavy rains and safety concerns for pilgrims traveling to the revered shrines. With improved weather, the Commissioner has now allowed the pilgrimage to restart, while ensuring precautionary measures remain in place.
As per the fresh directive, the District Magistrates of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, and Rudraprayag have been authorized to take immediate decisions regarding the continuation or temporary halt of the yatra, depending on weather conditions in their respective districts.
Officials have urged pilgrims to stay updated on local advisories and follow safety instructions during the journey. The resumption of the yatra comes as a relief for devotees who had been awaiting clearance to proceed towards the Char Dham shrines.
Authorities reaffirmed that ensuring the safety of pilgrims remains the top priority, and necessary actions will be taken swiftly in case of any change in weather conditions.
