Drones have been sighted at 26 locations along the International Border and LoC (Line of Control) with Pakistan. Several of the unmanned aerial vehicles are suspected to be armed, raising serious concerns over cross-border security and civilian safety.
The drone sightings have been reported in sensitive regions including Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala. Authorities believe some of the drones may be engaged in surveillance or hostile activity.
In a worrying development, an armed drone reportedly targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, Punjab. The attack resulted in injuries to members of a local family. The injured have received prompt medical attention, and the area was immediately secured and sanitised by security forces.
The Indian Armed Forces have responded swiftly, deploying counter-drone systems and ramping up surveillance to neutralize any aerial threats. Military sources confirmed that all drone activities are being tracked closely, and proactive steps are being taken to ensure public safety.
The Ministry of Defence has issued advisories urging residents of border areas to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow instructions issued by local authorities. “While the situation is under control, there is a need for heightened vigilance. Citizens must not panic but remain cautious,” an official spokesperson said.
This escalation highlights the growing threat posed by drone warfare and illicit cross-border activity. The government is closely monitoring the situation and is expected to hold high-level meetings to review security measures in border zones.
Further investigations are underway to determine the origin and intent behind these drone incursions. More updates are expected as the situation develops.
