Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the first-ever Gaja Ghantakarna Mahotsav 2025 at Atal Utkrisht Government Inter College, Gaja in Tehri district, marking a significant step towards cultural rejuvenation and regional development.
The Chief Minister began the day with prayers at the ancient Ghantakarna Temple, a mythologically significant shrine, and offered his wishes for the prosperity of Uttarakhand. He also garlanded the statue of state agitator Shaheed Belmati Chauhan and congratulated the public on the successful organization of the festival.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami highlighted the importance of such festivals in preserving and promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage. “The Gaja Ghantakarna Temple is a spiritual gem—second only to Badrinath in terms of pilgrimage circumambulation. This scenic location, with views of Haridwar and the Himalayas, holds tremendous tourism potential,” he said.
He emphasized that development must begin at the grassroots—from villages to districts—for India to achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed nation by 2047. The Chief Minister cited various developmental works in the region including a ₹30 crore polytechnic, a ₹24 crore drinking water scheme, and infrastructure like Gaushalas, rest houses, and Nagar Panchayat offices.
Highlighting women empowerment, he praised local self-help groups producing high-quality products under the One District One Product and House of Himalayas brand, stating these are competing with international companies.
CM Dhami reaffirmed the state’s commitment to zero tolerance against corruption, citing laws like UCC, anti-copying law, and strict land regulations, which have led to over 100 arrests and 23,000 job placements for youth.
He also felicitated local students selected in MBBS, IIT, NIT, and the Indian Navy, and announced that a village road would be named after martyr Vikram Singh Negi in his honor.
