Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Chardham Yatra 2025 from Rishikesh on Saturday at a special ceremony organized by the Joint Rotation Travel Arrangement Committee at ISBT. Marking the official start of the revered pilgrimage, the Chief Minister flagged off the first batch of 10 buses carrying pilgrims to the Char Dham shrines—Shri Kedarnath Dham, Shri Badrinath Dham, Maa Gangotri Dham, and Maa Yamunotri Dham.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami extended a heartfelt welcome to the pilgrims and prayed for a safe, smooth, and fulfilling yatra. He expressed confidence that this year’s pilgrimage will break all previous records and create new milestones, both in terms of participation and organization.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s commitment to ensuring a seamless travel experience, with constant review of logistics, safety, and facilities. “Our goal is that pilgrims return from Devbhoomi with cherished memories,” he said.
Highlighting the yatra’s economic impact, CM Dhami noted that it creates vast employment opportunities for local residents and boosts the regional economy. He urged visitors to support the state’s efforts to maintain cleanliness and sanctity throughout the pilgrimage, underlining the focus on green and sustainable tourism.
CM Dhami credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the transformational development in Kedarnath and Badrinath, citing the Kedarnath reconstruction, the upcoming Gaurikund-Kedarnath ropeway, and the All-Weather Road as key infrastructure projects enhancing accessibility.
He also commended the Joint Rotation Travel Arrangement Committee for their efficient coordination of pilgrim transport.
The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, MLA Premchand Aggarwal, Mayor Shambhu Paswan, and other dignitaries. A large number of pilgrims and local residents gathered to witness the auspicious start of the Chardham Yatra 2025.
