DAINIK NATION BUREAU/BADRINATH
The doors of Badrinath Dham were opened at 6 a.m. with full Vedic rituals and traditional customs. Thousands of devotees had been waiting since early morning to witness the auspicious occasion. The revered shrine of Lord Badri Vishal welcomed thousands of pilgrims who had gathered since the early hours to witness the auspicious occasion.
As the temple doors swung open, the air was filled with chants of “Jai Badri Vishal,” reverberating through the serene Himalayan valley. Devotees, many draped in woolen shawls against the early morning chill, erupted in joy, their voices echoing in unison as the morning sun bathed the snow-capped peaks in golden light. The temple priests performed the ceremonial opening with sacred fire offerings (havan), Vedic hymns, and flower decorations, in keeping with centuries-old traditions.
This year’s opening ceremony saw the presence of local dignitaries, temple committee members, and spiritual leaders, alongside pilgrims from across the country and abroad. Special arrangements were made for crowd management, medical assistance, and sanitation, with the help of state administration and volunteer groups.
The doors of Badrinath remain closed during winter due to heavy snowfall and reopen in summer after a long wait, drawing lakhs of devotees seeking blessings from Lord Vishnu in his Badri incarnation. The annual reopening is considered highly auspicious and is believed to bring spiritual merit to those who witness it.
With the gates now open, the flow of pilgrims is expected to increase significantly over the coming weeks. Authorities have urged visitors to follow safety guidelines and maintain cleanliness to ensure a smooth and spiritually fulfilling Yatra experience.
