Ahead of Chardham Yatra 2025 the Uttarkashi district administration has completed extensive preparations to ensure the safe, smooth, and comfortable journey of Gangotri and Yamunotri pilgrims. This year, the administration has focused especially on upgrading infrastructure related to parking management, sanitation, and public amenities to handle the growing number of devotees expected.

To address the rising pressure of vehicles on the pilgrimage routes, the administration has strengthened parking infrastructure across multiple key locations. On the Yamunotri National Highway, parking capacity has been enhanced in Kharsali, Jankichatti, Barkot, and Naugaon. Similarly, on the Gangotri National Highway, surface parking at Hina has been expanded, and multi-storey parking structures have been built at the Uttarkashi headquarters and near Gangotri. Additional surface parking zones have also been developed in Ramlila Maidan, Joshiada, and Bandarkot, aimed at maintaining smooth traffic flow throughout the Yatra period.

In parallel with traffic management, sanitation and hygiene facilities have been upgraded. The district administration has constructed a modern toilet complex at Jankichatti, specially designed to provide comfort and ensure cleanliness for pilgrims. Additionally, eight smart toilet complexes have been made operational at strategic points along the pilgrimage route. These are equipped with modern features to maintain high hygiene standards and reduce environmental impact.
Basic infrastructure like electricity, clean drinking water, and waste management has also been ensured at all key stop points along the Yatra path. These developments aim to offer pilgrims a more seamless and spiritually fulfilling journey to the Himalayan shrines.
With these upgrades, the Uttarkashi administration reaffirms its commitment to making Chardham Yatra 2025 not just spiritually enriching, but also safer and more organized than ever before.
