On Saturday, an unsettling incident exposed the negligence of city authorities and traffic management near the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) office. The issue revolves around the CNG fuel pump situated in the area, where long queues of vehicles waiting to refill create a daily traffic nightmare.

As the DIPR office is adjacent to this busy CNG station, vehicles often block the gate that serves as the entry and exit point for DIPR office. This problem took an ugly turn on Saturday when the Joint Director of DIPR arrived at his office, only to be forced to deboard his car on the road and walk inside as the entry was completely blocked by vehicles in queue.

When the Joint Director’s driver politely requested the waiting vehicles to vacate the passage, some vehicle owners started misbehaving. A verbal scuffle ensued, forcing DIPR staff to rush to the spot and intervene before the situation turned violent.

This incident has raised serious questions about the accountability of the fuel pump management, which seems indifferent to the public inconvenience caused daily. Why aren’t fuel station authorities ensuring the clear passage of vehicles in and out of government offices?

Moreover, the role of the City Patrol Unit (CPU) is under scrutiny. Known for penalizing citizens for minor parking violations, the same CPU conveniently ignores the vehicles that illegally occupy the road outside the DIPR office and Tax Bhawan. Why is action missing when government workspaces are being blocked?

The incident underscores the urgent need for administrative intervention and traffic regulation in the area before a more serious situation unfolds.
