Champawat Cricket Association organized a special cricket match at Chalthi Ground with the aim of raising awareness among the youth about the harmful effects of drugs and encouraging them to lead a healthy, drug-free life. The match was played between the Administration XI and a combined team of CAU (men and women).
The event saw an enthusiastic display of sportsmanship from both sides, delivering a powerful message of “Choose life, not drugs.” The CAU team performed brilliantly, chasing down the target of 152 runs in just 15 overs, securing victory by 8 wickets. Yash starred with an unbeaten 74 runs, while Muskan contributed a valuable 52 runs. Yash was declared Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.
Earlier, District Magistrate Navneet Pandey inaugurated the newly built ‘Community Changing Room cum Toilet’ at the Devbhoomi Cricket Ground, Chalthi. This facility will enhance the playing environment for local athletes and promote the growth of sports culture in the region.
Batting first after winning the toss, Administration XI scored 151 runs in their 20 overs. Key contributions came from Rahul Mahar (31), Pankaj Pathak (25), and Ganesh Pandey (23).
The match drew large crowds of students, youth, and local residents, who gathered not just to enjoy cricket but to support the meaningful cause of de-addiction. The event successfully delivered the message of choosing a healthy lifestyle over substance abuse. The players and audience together pledged to spread this message further, making the event a significant step towards building a drug-free society in Champawat.
