Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made a surprise inspection of the Char Dham Yatra Transit Camp (Yatra Registration Office) in Rishikesh on Friday. He reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. During the inspection, he assessed facilities including the registration room, travel inquiry and assistance centers, hospital, and police help desk too.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring seamless services for pilgrims. He directed that the registration facility remain operational 24×7 and suggested the establishment of a single-window helpdesk integrating services from Police, Transport, Municipal Corporation, Health, Water, Tourism, and Electricity departments. “We must become a support system for the devotees and ensure they carry back good experiences from Uttarakhand,” he said.
To enhance the spiritual atmosphere, CM Dhami announced the screening of devotional content like bhajans, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Chardham-related stories, along with regular weather updates for the pilgrims.
He instructed officials to make robust arrangements for pilgrims’ comfort, including coolers, clean drinking water, shaded seating areas, and essential medicines. He also stressed the need for effective crowd and traffic management plans, along with a well-staffed hospital and coordinated lost-and-found services.
Highlighting cultural promotion, he directed that local products of Uttarakhand be made available in a dedicated area within the transit camp. Promotional materials and information about other tourist destinations should also be provided to enhance visitor engagement.
Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey informed that 24 registration counters, a round-the-clock medical facility, a media center, and “Yatri Mitras” have been deployed. NGOs will offer free meals and refreshments, and ample drinking water facilities have been arranged.
CM Dhami also encouraged camp staff, highlighting their crucial role in the successful execution of the pilgrimage.
