In a bid to acknowledge Parvatiya (hilly) Holi, Uttarakhand government has declared a public holiday on March 15, 2025 (Saturday). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made this announcement to honor the region’s rich cultural heritage and traditions. The holiday will be observed across all government and non-government offices, as well as educational institutions and schools throughout the state.
This decision reflects the state’s deep respect for its mountain culture and aims to give the people of Uttarakhand an opportunity to celebrate the traditional Pahari Holi festival with enthusiasm and joy. The festival, celebrated with unique rituals, is a significant event for the people of the hill regions.
However, it is important to note that the holiday will not extend to banks, treasuries, and sub-treasuries. These institutions will continue to operate as usual, ensuring essential services are not disrupted. The move has been well-received by the public, as it offers a chance for families and communities to come together and celebrate this cultural festival in a meaningful way.
