Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mukhwa village, the winter abode of Maa Ganga, in Uttarkashi. He performed a puja, offers prayers for the nation’s prosperity and well-being. Following religious rituals, he presented bhog to the deity, upholding the sacred traditions of the region. The Prime Minister received a warm welcome from local villagers, who performed the Raanso dance, a traditional folk dance Uttarakhand, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the occasion.
After the puja, PM Modi took in the breathtaking view of the Himalayas from Mukhwa. He spent time at a viewpoint, admiring the snow-covered peaks and the serene Bhagirathi River flowing through the picturesque Harsil Valley. The stunning landscape reinforced Uttarakhand’s immense potential for spiritual and adventure tourism.
From Mukhwa, the Prime Minister traveled by road to Harshil, where he explored an exhibition on Uttarakhand’s winter tourism. The exhibition highlighted the state’s premier winter destinations, adventure sports, and pilgrimage sites, showcasing its potential for year-round tourism.
As part of his commitment to boosting adventure tourism, PM Modi flagged off a trekking and biking rally, encouraging thrill-seekers to explore the rugged terrain of Uttarakhand.
The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to bring global recognition to Mukhwa (Mukhimath), strengthening Uttarakhand’s cultural and religious heritage.
