IN a bid to save trapped workers after avalance in Chamoli district near Mana rescue operation has been intensified. Multiple agencies including the Army, ITBP, SDRF and BRO working tirelessly to locate the missing workers. So far 32 workers have been rescued safely while 41 yet to be rescued.

CM Dhami Cancels All Programs, Leads Rescue Efforts

As soon as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami received information about the disaster, he canceled all his scheduled programs and took direct charge of the situation. He rushed to the State Disaster Operations Center in Dehradun, where he reviewed the rescue efforts in a high-level meeting with top officials. The CM instructed officials to speed up the rescue operations and ensure adequate medical facilities for the injured. He also ordered arrangements for airlifting critically injured victims to higher medical centers, including AIIMS Rishikesh.

Severe Weather Hampers Rescue Operations

The avalanche, which struck on Friday, trapped 57 workers near a BRO camp where they were engaged in construction work. Despite harsh weather conditions and communication breakdowns, rescue teams are making every effort to locate and evacuate the missing workers. Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari confirmed that connectivity issues are making coordination difficult, and he, along with the Superintendent of Police, has left for the site.

Defense Minister, Home Minister Monitoring Situation

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh spoke with CM Dhami regarding the avalanche and assured that the Army and BRO teams are working with full force. In a post on social media platform X, he stated that all possible assistance is being provided to the affected and that all available resources are being used to rescue the trapped workers.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed concern over the situation, stating that the top priority is to evacuate all stranded individuals safely. He confirmed that two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are on their way to assist in the rescue efforts.
