ITBP IG Sanjay Gunjyal was honored with the President’s Police Medal for exceptional and special service. The prestigious award was presented by the Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, during the ITBP Raising Day Parade 2025 held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He is 1997 batch Uttarakhand Cadre IPS officer and currently on duputation in ITBP.
IG Gunjyal has served in various districts and ranges across Uttarakhand. He was previously awarded a copper plate for his outstanding role in organizing the Haridwar Purna Kumbh Mela, one of the most significant religious gatherings in India. His commitment to duty has earned him multiple honors, including the President’s Commendable Service Medal, Prime Minister’s Life-Raksha Medal, United Nations Medal, and the State Uttam Vishisht Seva Medal.
Earlier this year, IG Gunjyal was also awarded the DG ITBP Insignia Gold Disc in recognition of his excellent work as IG ITBP. His leadership and dedicated service in difficult terrains have been widely acknowledged. This latest honor further cements IG Gunjyal’s reputation as an exemplary officer committed to national service and law enforcement excellence.
