DAINIK NATION BUREAU/Bareilly (UP): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has inaugurated the 29th Uttarayani Mela in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. He has also released a book “The Youth Ideas”, highlighting the importance of youth participation in preserving cultural heritage and traditions. CM Dhami congratulated everyone on the successful organization of the fair.
In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that the Uttarayani Mela is a vibrant symbol of Uttarakhand’s rich folk culture and traditions. “It is a matter of pride for every Uttarakhandi that this fair, which reflects our unique cultural identity, is now celebrated not only in Uttarakhand but also in other states on a large scale,” he said. He added that such events help in strengthening the cultural bonds among people and inspire the younger generation to stay connected to their roots.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the state. He said efforts are being made to ensure that future generations understand and remain connected to Uttarakhand’s traditions. Dhami also spoke about the state government’s strict measures to maintain Uttarakhand’s cultural integrity, including laws against forced conversions, illegal land acquisitions, and spitting in public places, commonly referred to as “land jihad” and “spit jihad.”
The fair, which draws large crowds every year, features traditional folk performances, local crafts, and cuisine, providing a platform for artists and artisans to showcase their talents.
