Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the remarkable environmental conservation efforts of Jhala village of Uttarkashi district in Mann Ki Baat programme on Sunday. The village, through its Youth Welfare Committee, Women’s Welfare Committee, and active local participation, has launched an innovative cleanliness initiative called the “Thank You Nature Campaign,” aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices.
PM Modi praised the villagers’ efforts, emphasizing that the campaign is a significant step toward environmental conservation and sustainability. He encouraged the entire nation to adopt similar initiatives in every village, stressing the importance of responsibility toward nature and youth-led environmental protection.
Dhanyavad Prakriti Abhiyan: An Environmental Milestone
The “Dhanyavad Prakriti Abhiyan” campaign was launched on July 8, 2024, under the leadership of village head Smt. Surja Devi and Youth Welfare Committee president Abhishek Rautela. The initiative involves daily cleaning drives in Jhala village and its primary market, Payara. The villagers dedicate two hours each day to collect garbage from the streets and dispose of it in designated areas outside the village, ensuring cleanliness and waste management.
The campaign has not only resulted in a cleaner village but has also heightened environmental awareness among the villagers. The effort was especially praised for its ability to involve the community in nature preservation, making Jhala a model for other villages to follow.
Chief Minister Dhami’s Praise for the Cleanliness Initiative
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who listened to the Mann Ki Baat in Dehradun, lauded the “Dhanyavad Prakriti Abhiyan” as a commendable effort in the field of cleanliness and environmental sustainability. He stressed that such cleanliness campaigns should be promoted across Uttarakhand to raise awareness and maintain hygiene, especially in rural areas. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of these initiatives in boosting tourism, a major focus of the state government.
CM Dhami encouraged people across the state to support similar cleanliness programs, emphasizing the need for community involvement to ensure their success. He reiterated that the state government is placing special emphasis on cleanliness to improve the tourism sector, positioning Uttarakhand as a clean and green destination.
Mann Ki Baat’s 10-Year Anniversary and Social Impact
The upcoming edition of “Mann Ki Baat,” set to air on October 3, will mark the 10-year anniversary of the program. Over the past decade, Prime Minister Modi’s radio address has inspired various social organizations and citizens to take on initiatives focused on social responsibility, cleanliness, and environmental sustainability.
As the nation celebrates this milestone, the “Dhanyavad Prakriti Abhiyan” serves as an inspiring example of how community-led efforts can make a significant impact on environmental conservation and village cleanliness. The recognition of Jhala village in “Mann Ki Baat” sets a positive example for other communities, encouraging more grassroots initiatives for environmental protection and sustainable development across India.
