As 2019 has begun and Trivendra Singh Rawat led Uttarakhand government’s challenge has doubled because state is going to face General election-2019 under his government. It is known to everyone that what had happened here after General election-2009.
As we know that state BJP president Ajay Bhatt has expressed his difference with chief minister on the issue of Gairsain. When Chief Minister decided to conduct winter session in Dehradun instead of Gairsain then Bhatt said that state should not convene session there unless and until they put infrastructure in place.
Addressing to the people at the launching ceremony of Atal Ayushman Yojna, Haridwar MP and Ex CM Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had categorically said that being a state health minister he had launched 108 ambulance service, which ferry patient to nearby hospital. He further said that to ensure poor family’s ward should get medical education, which was being considered as expensive decision, he had introduced medical education @ Rs 15000 per annum. With these two declarations he tried to remind the people including chief minister, who was sharing dais with him, that he can lead the state.
Even imported leaders, who deserted congress and joined BJP ahead of Assembly election-2017, are feeling suffocated. State cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat had categorically told after Panchayat election’s defeat in his assembly constituency i.e. Kotdwar, where former state cabinet minister SS Negi’s wife won the mayor election by defeating sitting MLA’s wife, that he is not accountable for party’s defeat because he was not consulted during ticket distribution.
One Ex-MLA Amrita Rawat, who had also joined the bandwagon while nine MLA shifted their loyalty, is still waiting to get handsome return. It is being discussed in political corridor that state cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj has expressed his desire to contest General election from Garhwal Lok sabha seat. Then he would vacate his assembly seat chaubattakhal, where Amrita Rawat can be rehabilitated. Even BJP senior leader Teerath Rawat, who was denied ticket to rehabilitate Satpal Maharaj, is putting all efforts to get the ticket from Garhwal. As we know that Maharaj has large number of his followers in Rajasthan and Bihar so party might not dare to overlook him. If this happens then factionalism would prevail and if party loss during upcoming General election then its onus would come on chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat because we had seen how then CM Maj Gen Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri government was sacked after General election-2009 after party’s 5-0 defeat in Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile Congress General Secretary and Ex CM Harish Rawat has been very much active in two Parliamentary constituencies i.e. Haridwar and Udhamsinghnagar Nainital. To show his prowess he had hosted tea party on the last day of year 2018. In these political scenario CM will have to tackle all this problem otherwise 2009 may repeat in Uttarakhand.
