14 dead and 17 injured in a road accident on Thursday. A bus in which they were travelling met an accident and fallen into deep gorge.

As the information reached to the police then the pressed helicopter to ferry the seriously injured passenger to higher centre.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed deep sorrow at the bus accident that took place at Kirgani on Chamba-Uttarkashi national highway in Tehri Garhwal district.  Expressing his heartfelt sympathies with the families of the deceased, he prayed to the Almighty to grant them patience in this hour of grief.

On getting information about the accident, Chief Minister immediately instructed the district administration to start rescue and relief operations and ensure proper medical treatment of those injured. On the instructions of Chief Minister, two cabinet ministers namely Yashpal Arya and Subodh Uniyal reached the spot of the accident to supervise the rescue and relief work. The seriously injured passengers were airlifted by a helicopter to AIIMS, Rishikesh.

State government has announced a grant of Rs. Two lakh each to the next of kin of those deceased and Rs.50,000 eaxch to the injured immediately.  As per the State Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre, Dehradun information, a total of 31 passengers were travelling in the ill-fated bus. Fourteen passengers were reportedly killed  while 17 others were injured in the accident as per the information. District Magistrate, SSP, SDM, tehsildar, police, fire and disaster relief teams along with 108 ambulances are present on the spot.
