On Thursday Uttarakhand politics was at its peak. As leader of opposition Indira Hridayesh, who had refused to attend all parties meeting and business advisory committee (BAC) meeting, has kept treasury bench on tenterhook. Later she melted when Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash Pant approached her with folded hand.
With this incident one thing is clear that Pant, who protects the treasury bench during session inside the house, has managed the opposition outside the house too. Pant said that when LoP did not attend the BAC meeting today then we could not finalise the minutes of the Vidhan Sabha session so we decided to convene BAC meeting a day ahead of session at Bharadisain. As session is supposed to begin by December 7.
Ironically during budget session treasury bench had managed to pass the budget in midnight and later speaker had pronounced house sine die. With this incident opposition protested and said that during BAC meeting government did not divulge that they would end the session today. By doing this they have breached the trust of opposition so now onward opposition would not attend any meeting in future. Following on that announcement she did not attend the meeting today.
It is being said that she has agreed to attend the meeting schedule on December 6 a day ahead of winter session beginning. As we know that government convenes all party meeting ahead of session to ensure smooth functioning of it. They also conduct BAC meeting to finalise the business of the house. In both the meeting opposition plays crucial role.
