Killers were offered job, sister’s marriage expense & car by contractor

Two days after the shootout killing of the gangster Devpal Rana in police custody within the premise of Roorkee court, police said that it is outcome of local body election of Saharanpur, UP.  Sources said that the contract to eliminate Devpal Rana, a close aide of the notorious gangster Sunil Rathi, was given to some contract killers by Rishipal Rana, husband of the block head of Nanauta village of Saharanpur district, UP. One out of three killers were lured that if you eliminate him then he would meet his sister’s marriage expense.

Police had stated their investigation after the deceased in his dying statement- recorded at the civil hospital in Roorkee-  had named Rishipal Rana as the mastermind behind the shootout.  Subsequently, three cases have been registered against Rishipal.

Ironically three sharpshooters had fired indiscriminate rounds inside the court premises of Roorkee on Monday morning, killing Devpal Rana who was taken to the court for hearing in connection with the infamous August 2014 Roorkee jail shootout that killed three persons outside the jail.

Haridwar SP Rural, Manikant Mishra said that wives of Devpal Rana and Rishipal Rana had fought a bitterly contested local body election for the post of the block pramukh of Nanauta village of  Saharanpur district. “The wife of Rishipal won, something which Devpal could not have digested, triggered an enmity between the duo. Subsequently, Rishipal hatched a conspiracy to eliminate his arch rival. Rishipal had given the contract to the trio from Jind district of Haryana -Ajay, Mohit and Vikas. In which two were caught within court premise while third arrested from Dehradun.

The shooters are quite young. While Ajay and Vikas are 20, Mohit is just 19 with no criminal history being tagged to them. During interrogation they confessed their crime.

Mishra further disclosed that Rishipal himself had arranged accommodation for them. “We have further learnt while interrogating the trio that Rishipal had lured Ajay into the crime with assurances of bearing the expenses of his sister’s marriage and an offer of job for him  while Mohit was promised a work of contractor and Vikas a new car. Ambition to turn rich overnight had entrapped them in the crime,” he added
