Survey for Kandi road to begin by next month: Rawat

Following on the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat’s announcement that he would open Kandi road to connect Garhwal and Kumaon division internally, survey for the construction of road may begin by next month. This was claimed by state cabinet minister harak singh rawat.

Kandi road that circumscribes the landscape of the tiger famous Jim Corbett National Park, proposed to be metalled, will be first green road of the region.

It assumes significance as it cuts apart the Corbett National Park in Kumaon and links the Garhwal and the Kumaon divions. It will connect Ramnagar to Kotdwar via Kalagarh. Presently, one has to travel long distance to reach Ramnagar from Kotdwar and has to enter neighbouring UP.

Rawat has asserted that the Kandi road will be the first green road in the region. Rawat also said that the survey works for concrete construction of Kandi road will begin by next month. Eco Tourism Corporation has been assigned with the task of the construction of this green road and an initial amount of Rs 50 crore has also been earmarked for the purpose.
