The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was probing the allegedly murder of noted journalist Gauri Lankesh, has released the sketches of two suspects between age of 25-30, and the CCTV camera footage installed nearby the journo’s house. The footage shows the man was riding two-wheeler without having registration number. Meanwhile state government has announced a Rs 10 lakh cash reward for anyone whosoever provides clues to solve the murder mystery
She was shot dead by unidentified goons outside her residence on September 6. SIT, which was assigned job to probe her murder, has prepared these sketches on the basis of input provided by the witnesses and the footage after more than five weeks of her murder killer. Ironically there are two suspects but released three sketches because they were drawn by the two painters.
Police says they had questioned more than 200 persons and the goons had used a 7.65 mm country made pistol to eliminate the veteran journo. Although they not ruled out professional rivalry behind her murder but they are also probing other angles including Naxal and personl enmity. They also told that SIT has also collected some evidence from the footage from victim’s house.
Although they could not say with certainty if the pattern of murder of rationalists Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare in Maharashtra, progressive Kannada writer MM Kalburgi in Dharwad and Gauri in Karnataka was same. There are few differences between these murder but similarities too.
