Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul on Thursday has categorically said that state is full of sports talent and it needs to be groomed. we can groom them by providing proper platform to the. Currently Olympian Manish Rawat has become a role model for the youngsters of the State. he expressed these views after inaugurating the Inter-University sports meet at Doon University. Ironically Governor along with CM formally inaugurated the event by releasing balloons in the air.
Studies and sports both build a well-balanced personality.Congratulating Doon University for organizing the event, the Governor said that efforts are being made to make universities of the State as centres for quality education,
original research and sports activity. Universities were places where students personalities must be groomed in many ways. He suggested that an inter-college T-20 cricket tournament can be organized in the state so that new talent could get a platform to exhibit itself.
The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said sports are very important for physical as well as mental fitness. Giving thanks to the governor for the this, CM Rawat announced that state government would give Rs 11 lakh for this event.
He further said that young participants have shown their energy and positivity during march past. He expressed hope that these youngsters would play for the country and State in future.
State Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat said that the Uttarakhand government is determined to make the state one of the leading state in the field of higher education. He said now all state universities would actively participate in the all Indian
cleanliness rankings. Now Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to have Principals in all its degree colleges. By releasing balloons they formally inaugurated the event and later they they met with the players and wished them luck. About 800 players from ten universities are participating in the meet.
Other dignitareis including Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli, secretary to the Governor, Ravinath Raman, and Vice Chancellors of various State universities were also present there.
