A man poked to death by tusker in Haldwani

A man was jabbed lethally by a tusker in the Haldwani forest division on Saturday evening. This was confirmed by the DFO C Sanwal on Sunday.

Sanwal said that he received an information that a tusker has entered into an agriculture field in Chakta range. Acting on the information, the forest guard and local villagers were trying to herd the tusker away from the field. During then Bhim Singh Padiyar, a native of Devidhura of Champawat, came closer to the tusker and furious pachyderm turned suddenly. As a result Padiyar received deep injuries on his abdomen with his tusk.

Meanwhile other people have managed to shoo away the elephant and took Bhim to a nearby hospital and later he was referred to the sushila Tiwari government college & hospital, Haldwani but he succumbed to his deep injury during treatment on Sunday.

DFO further said that the deceased family has been informed about the incident and will be given Rs three lakh as compensation to them.
