MAD conducted sanitation drive at Dobhalwala tday

Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) conducted its weekly clean-up drive and awareness program here in Dobhalwala today. More than two dozen members first gathered at Astley Hall and then collectively proceeded towards the venue in Dobhalwala. The extent of waste that greeted MAD members was huge. It was a deadly combination of household waste, hotel waste, chicken remains and biodegradable waste wrapped in polythene.

Without wasting any time, MAD members divided themselves into two groups. One was focusing on  cleanup drives and the other was focusing on the awareness program. As members visited door to door yet again trying to explain the significance of civic sense and making a case against such improper disposal of waste, the other team was at it on occasions needy in the most disgusting kind of waste one can imagine. The two pronged activity continued for over two hours. Thereafter MAD members started working on a shabby greasy wall by scrubbing it and readying it for a wall mural that the organization plans to paint over it.

In the course of the activity, not only did some locals stop to compliment the efforts of the team, but also some of them joined the efforts by taking on gloves and cleaning for sometime themselves. The activity was one which radiated a lot of positivity and proceeded with local people participating as well. MAD members hope that ultimately civic sense will prevail and the very need for such cleanup drives and awareness programs will be diminished. Present in the activity were Founding President Abhijay Negi, Shreya Singh Rohilla, Saurabh Dandriyal, Jahanavi, Yashraj, Prerna, etc
