Amidst chanting of vedic hymn Kedarnath shrine and Yamunotri shrines closed for winter break today. As we know that portals of Gangotri shrine had closed yesterday. With these now three out of four temple of char Dham yatra closed for winter break. Now only Badrinath shrine is open for pilgrims and will close on november 19. A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited to Kedarnath and unveils several projects for Kedarnath reconstruction.
The gates of the temple in Kedarnath were closed at 8.20 am after ‘Samadhi pujan’ and ‘Shuddhikaran’ ceremonies were held at the sanctum sanctorum in presence of temple committee officials and Rudraprayag District Magistrate Mangesh Ghildiyal. Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple committee BD Singh said that more than 2,000 devotees have witnessed the august ceremony.
The Utsav Doli (palanquin) of Lord Shiva left for the Omkareshwar temple, Ukhimath. It will reach at Ukhimath on october 23 and Here Lord shiva will stay till the opening of kedarnath shrine. As per the BKTC Chief BD Singh said this year 4,71,235 devotees visited the temple.
The protals of the Yamunotri shrine also closed today. The idol of Goddess Yamuna’s palanquin left for Kharsali, where goddess will stay till the opening of yamunotri dham in the month of april/may 2018
As we know that during Winter season heavy snowfall happens in Kedarnath and all the routes get closed. The shrine is also closed for 6 months. The shrine closes on the week of Kartik, on the day of Bhai Dooj (October-November) and reopens in Akshay Tritya (April-May) every year.
