In a bid to facilitate the soldiers including para military union telecom ministry has waived off the monthly charges of DSPT service and slashed call charges by 80 percent. It will be applicable from Deepawali. The decision has been announced as Deepawali gift to soldiers.
As we know that soldiers get posted in remote and far flung areas to protect the border of the India without bothering about the difficult weather conditions. To be in touch with their family and headquarter they have to use DSPT service by paying Rs 500 per month and pay Rs 5 per minute as call charges.
Addressing to the media, the Minister of state for Communications Manoj Sinha said that as it was a long pending demand of the soldiers and high cost they have to incur for talking to their family members. In view of this government has decided to waive off monthly charges and reduced the call charges by Rs one per minute in place of Rs 5 per minute earlier. The decision will be effective on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
