In the infamous Anupama Gulati murder case, the court has pronounced her husband Rajesh Gulati is guilty On Thursday and will announce quantum of punishment on Friday.

The Court pronounced Rajesh guilty of murder and destruction of evidences under section 302 and 201 of IPC. The court had completed the hearing in the case on August 18. The court however refused to acknowledge the statements of the two minor children of Gulati. The quantum of the punishment would be decided on Friday. The court made the evidences provided by the prosecution and statements of two witnesses who turned hostile as the basis of its judgement.

On December 11, 2010 the heart wrenching story of Anupama Gulati came to fore when the police recovered the pieces of body of Anupama in deep freezer kept in the room. Such was the brutality of the crime that the body was cut into many small pieces.  Rajesh Gulati along with his wife and two children were living in Prakash Nagar, Dehradun. On October 17, 2010 Anupama went missing. Whenever the children asked about their mother, Rajesh used to tell them that she has gone to the house of her parents. The matter came to fore when the brother of Anupama came to Dehradun but Rajesh didn’t allow him to enter into the house. Getting suspicious her brother informed the police which forced its way in to the house found the body in the freezer. After an investigation spreading four months, Cant police filed a charge sheet in court blaming Rajesh of murdering his wife in cold blood. In the charge sheet the police said that the Anupama and Rajesh had estranged relationship and on the night of October 17 they had a quarrel in which head of Anupama got banged on to corner of a bed. It made her unconscious after which Rajesh smothered her by pressing a pillow against her face.

Next day Rajesh bought a deep freezer and placed the body into it. When the body became stiff, he chopped into small pieces by a stone cutter. Rajesh had disposed off many pieces near Malsi Dear Park but before he could complete his job he was arrested. Interestingly Rajesh and Anupama had a long affair after which they tied the nuptial knot in 1999.
