Sex rackets busted in Roorkee, Dehradun by cops

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) local unit has revoked the primary membership of a 53-year-old woman party worker over her alleged involvement in operating a sex racket in the town, which was busted on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, police arrested four people, including two women, from a house after they were allegedly found indulged in immoral activities.
According to reports, acting on a tip-off, a team of anti-human trafficking cell of the district police led by inspector Sadhna Tyagi raided the house in Premnagar locality.
The arrested people have been identified as Bobby from Tansipur village, Yashpal from Thithki village, Hina Sharma of Zafaranbaz locality in Saharanpur, and Sonam Arora from Premnagar locality in Roorkee.

According to police, the accused disclosed the names of one Hema Rawal and her aide Shabnam as kingpins, stating that they had been operating the sex racket since long.

Roorkee circle officer Swapan Kishore Singh said, “Rawal, a known face in the BJP local circles, and Shabnam are at large. But, we have booked six people — four arrested and two at large — under section 370-1 (offence of human trafficking), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.”
