Magnitude 6 earthquake rattles Andaman & Nicobar Island

Earthquake shocks in Andaman and Nicobar islands are reported. According to the information, tremors of magnitude 6.0 have been felt here. According to the initial information, there is no news of any kind of damage.

The News Agency said in reference to the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) Director, SPS Chenoi, that no special increase has been noticed in the sea level around the Andaman Nicobar archipelago, due to which no tsunami alert was issued.

The earthquake came on Thursday morning at 43 minutes past eight and its center was in the Nicobar island region. Officials said that there is no news of loss of life and property due to earthquake.

At the time of earthquake, the maximum dimension of the vibrations of the earth and the general mathematics of the proportion of an arbitrary small dimension is called the ‘Richter scale’. The full name of ‘Richter Scale’ is the Richter Magnitude Test Scale. Some areas of Andaman-Nicobar are kept in Zone-5.

Zone 5 is considered to be the most dangerous in terms of earthquake. According to a report, 38 cities of India come in high risk Seismic Zones. Whereas 60 percent of the land is prone to earthquake. According to the Bureau of Indian Standards, most of the construction in the country has not been done keeping the earthquake in mind. However there are some exceptions to this. Like Delhi Metro The Delhi Metro has been constructed in such a way that it can co-operate with earthquake shocks.
