The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the dates for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Maharashtra to face polls on November 20 and counting would happen on November 23 while Jharkhand would face polling on November 13 and counting would happen on November 23. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar made the announcement during a press conference held in New Delhi today.
Maharashtra, with a total of 288 assembly seats, requires a party to win at least 145 seats to form the government. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, which has 81 assembly seats, a political party will need to secure 42 seats to achieve a majority and govern the state.
The elections in these states will be closely watched, with major political parties gearing up for a significant contest.
