Employees of power departments including PITCUL, UPCL and UJVNL have called off their proposed strike after the government assurance that they would constitute a committee to look into their demand.
Uttarakhand Power Engineers Association General Secretary AK Mishra said that the government has not resolved the anomalies in our pay scales. They had threatened to go on strike if government fails to fulfill their demand for removal of anomalies in the seventh Pay Commission was not met. As a precautionary measure government had imposed Essential Service Maintenance Act (ESMA), which is why they agreed for deliberation.
During meeting union leaders and senior officials, secretary power, said a committee, which was constituted to study their grievance, will submit their report to the finance department in next one month.
Ironically, the Uttarakhand government had issued an order in September this year for implementation of the seventh Pay Commission recommendations for the employees of the three state government power undertakings. However, the employees were unhappy with the anomalies in the pay scale and demanded immediate resolution.
