State tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj has said that rural tourism will receive a terrific boost under the Department of Tourism’s Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Rozgar Yojana.
The scheme had been launched with an eye on promoting home-stays in rural areas. Villagers will be offered grants and loans for developing their home-stays located in the heart of villages.
Maharaj further said that the Tourism Department is already running a home stay scheme, it has been revamped as Deen Dayal Upadhayay scheme to give fillip to rural tourism. “A new component of imparting training in soft skills has been added under which the department could also provide training to villagers for improving their skills in understanding the language of the foreign tourists.
Also, in its previous avatar, most of the proposals for home stays came from urban areas, wherein residential complexes were upgraded to guest houses
