Police nab Drug peddler having 2kgs of drugs

Champawat Police have arrested a notorious peddler from Indo-Nepal border in Tanakpur and seized 2kg of charas, which he was allegedly smuggling into India from Nepal, on Sunday.

The accused, Ghuman Singh, 30, is a resident of Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district. He was arrested near Sharda barrage. The recovered contraband is worth over Rs 1 lakh in the international market.

Ramchandra Rajguru, superintendent of police, Champawat, said, “Acting on a tip-off, we intensified checking on the border. After spotting police, the accused tried to escape but was rounded up by the special operation group (SOG).”
