The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay congratulated Doiwala MLA Trivendra Singh Rawat for being elected the head of Bharatiya Janata Party legislature party on Friday. In his statement issued to the media, the PCC chief said that the manner in which the BJP rushed to form its government in states it had not achieved a majority in while taking six days to decide the chief minister in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh where it had secured two-thirds majority, is a cause of concern for the state. He averred that the PCC will support the state government while remaining alert on constructive efforts. He also criticised the BJP-led Central Government for recurring rise in the price of petroleum products. Outgoing chief minister Harish Rawat also congratulated Rawat on the occasion and assured full cooperation for the development of the state, while adding that he had faith that the state would progress at a brisk pace. PCC vice president Jot Singh Bisht, chief spokesman Mathura Datt Joshi and party leader Dhirendra Pratap also congratulated Trivendra Singh Rawat on the occasion.
