Pauri Police have detained on Tuesday a former IAS officer of Bihar cadre Krishan Bihari and his son Nikhel Priyadarshi. The duo-the son was an accused of an attempted rape case involving a daughter of a former minister of Bihar and the father allegedly threatened the survivor of consequences -had been absconding since the special judge court, SC/ST Patna, issued an unbailable warrant against them in February 2017.
A case (FIR:26/16) under sections 354/354(a)/506/34 and 3(i)(R) (S) SC/ST Act and section 3 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered against the duo and others in SC/ST police station, Patna. Section 376 of IPC was later included in the existing FIR in course of investigation.
Informing of the detainment, Pauri senior superintendent of police Mukhtar Mohsin said on Tuesday that in course of vehicle checking drive at around 11.30 am, Cheela police post personnel had signaled a Haryana registered plate number vehicle to stop for checking. As the police questioned them about their identities the duo revealed their names that aroused suspicion. The police later found that they were the same fugitives the police had long been on the lookout for. The duo was brought to the Cheela police post where they were grilled.
Mohsin further said that immediately on getting the information of the duo being detained, he had talked to the SSP Patna. “SSP Patna said that the accused would be taken to Patna by Patna police. A team of Bihar police has already left for Pauri. We would hand them over to the Patna police after the completion of the legal formalities,” he said, adding that the Bihar police had thanked them for the detainment of the duo.
As per the police sources, investigation revealed that the accused Nikhil Priyadarshi had attempted to rape the daughter of a former minister of Bihar after calling her to his bungalow. Besides, as per the complaint filed by the alleged survivor, the father of the accused, a former IAS officer, Krishan Bihari had threatened her of consequences while casting caste slur on her. This was followed by the court issuing non-bailable warrants against the father-son duo. As they absconded several teams of Bihar police were sent to various parts of the country to have them arrested.
Investigation further revealed that several cases related to cheating and frauds remain tagged to Nikhil Priyadarshi, a businessman.
