BJP releases its vision document for UK

A week after the chief minister Harish Rawat released his nine-point pledges to hook the electorate with much fanfare , the Union finance minister and senior  BJP leader   Arun Jaitley  has released BJP’s vision documents at the party headquarters in Dehradun  on Saturday. It seems that BJP has taken cue from Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav  which vowed to distribute free laptops between 2012 and 2017. BJP on its part promised a slew of freebies for the education sectors, including distribution of free laptop and smartphones among the meritorious students. The document also promises to give fillip to the ailing health sector.

While releasing the vision document, Jaitley said that party was feeling proud of releasing the documented vision to speed development of the state which was created when the party was in power at the Centre in 2000.

“It is a proud moment for BJP to spell out its vision for a state which acquired statehood under NDA as the fulfillment of the long- cherished aspiration of the people living in this region,” Jaitley said.

The document which foresees clean governance for Uttarakhand is in sync with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment for accelerating the country along the highway of growth. Noting that development was the biggest casualty of lack of political stability in Uttarakhand, he said the state which has tremendous potential in the education and tourism sectors can utilize its potential only when BJP comes to power here and works in partnership with the Centre for its development.

Replying to the Opposition remark that the Union government is not releasing funds to the state government, he said that though the  norms define that both  the Centre and the state governments are  accountable  it is a joint responsibility as well.

“Several activities are being initiated by the Union government but state is equally responsible for its implementation and it can bring pace in development  in the states too if the governments  in the  states are stable. Coincidentally, both politics and government are plagued with instablity here. Disputes overlapped development. The vision document proposes transparent governance if the party is voted to power,” he said.

The 14-page document with the pictures of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah on the cover besides those of the five MPs, former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna, Satpal Maharaj and Pradesh BJP president Ajay Bhatt promises to develop the state as an education hub by reviewing the education policy and putting in place an education system with emphasis on quality. It also promises to distribute free laptops and smartphones among meritorious students, free education up to post- graduation level to girls from the economically weaker sections, free wi-fi connectivity to all state-based universities and regularisation of guest and contractual teachers.
