Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal on Monday conducted a surprise inspection of the ISBT and ordered to demolish unwanted construction at the exit gate and shift the police outpost too. Stressing zero tolerance on negligence, the DM said that public convenience in the city’s busiest area will not be accepted in any circumstances.
During the inspection, the DM expressed strong displeasure after finding the exit gate meant for buses heading towards Delhi closed. Taking serious note of the lapse, the DM immediately directed the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) to open the gate and ordered strict departmental action against the Assistant Regional Manager (ARM) for ignoring earlier instructions.
Issuing a clear warning to officials, the DM said that any officer found compromising public convenience would be held directly accountable. To ensure smooth traffic movement, he ordered the permanent closure of all illegal cuts under the flyover. He further directed that a safe and systematic crossover be constructed in place of these illegal cuts.
To address parking issues, the DM Bansal announced the development of organized ‘color-coded’ parking under the flyover. To provide immediate relief from traffic congestion, DM also sanctioned funds on the spot to the NHAI for the development of roadside parking along the Haridwar Bypass Road by laying tiles.
The Regional Transport Office (RTO) was instructed to take strict action against vehicles parked in an unauthorized and haphazard manner along the roadside. The DM categorically stated that no encroachment or obstruction to traffic would be tolerated in the ISBT area.
During the surprise inspection Dehradun Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, SP City Pramod Kumar, and several other senior officials were present. The DM has categorically directed all concerned departments to ensure prompt implementation of the orders and maintain strict monitoring to prevent recurrence of such lapses.
