Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami–led Uttarakhand Cabinet on Wednesday approved a series of major decisions, including granting conditional exemption for women employees working in shops and commercial establishments to work night shifts. The move aims to expand employment opportunities for women while ensuring safety guidelines and employer accountability.

In a significant infrastructure push, the Cabinet approved the Dehradun Metro Neo project, paving the way for a modern, cost-effective urban transport system in the capital.

Key regulatory reforms were also cleared, including re-examining the need for map approval within the authority’s jurisdiction, aimed at simplifying construction-related procedures.

Strengthening the justice system, the Cabinet approved the reorganization of the prosecution department, with 46 new posts to be created to improve efficiency.

The government also enhanced compensation for families affected by wildlife attacks, increasing the ex gratia amount from ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh.

The Cabinet gave its nod to the Uttarakhand Shops and Establishments (Amendment) Ordinance 2025, which incorporates provisions related to women’s night shifts and workplace compliance.

Additionally, approval was granted to present the annual financial report of UJVNL Ltd. for 2022-23 in the next Legislative Assembly session. The complete accounts of the Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board for 2024-25 will also be tabled before the House.

These decisions reflect the state government’s focus on women’s safety, administrative reforms, and infrastructure development.
