The Uttarakhand Excise Department has categorically denied any approval for the manufacture, registration, or sale of the liquor brand “Trikal” within the state. In an official press note Excise Commissioner Harichandra Semwal clarified that no such brand has been permitted, and the department has no association with its circulation.
As per the statement, misleading information is being spread on social media falsely linking the liquor brand “Trikal,” launched by M/s Radico Khaitan Limited in other states, to Uttarakhand. The department has outrightly rejected this claim and said that it deeply hurts the religious, cultural, and social sentiments of Uttarakhand, known as “Devbhoomi.”
“No brand bearing names associated with gods, goddesses, or sacred religious concepts will be allowed in the state,” the Excise Commissioner said, reaffirming the department’s commitment to preserving the spiritual and cultural integrity of the region.
Taking a firm stand, the department has decided to register a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant cybercrime sections to take strict action against those responsible for spreading such rumors. Authorities believe this misinformation campaign may be part of a deliberate attempt to malign the image of Uttarakhand and its administrative machinery.
The department also appealed to the public to refrain from believing or sharing such unverified news. Citizens have been urged to report such incidents promptly to the Excise Department or local administration for swift action.
The Uttarakhand Excise Department reiterated its ongoing commitment to boosting state revenue, curbing illegal liquor operations, and maintaining transparent and culturally respectful governance.
