Talking to media Chamoli DM Sadeep Tiwari has explained about the incident in details.
Following instructions from SDRF Commandant, a rescue team led by SI Devidutt Barthwal from Joshimath post was dispatched to the avalanche site. Additionally, high-altitude rescue teams have been put on standby at Gauchar and Sahasradhara, Dehradun.
The rescue efforts are facing severe challenges due to heavy snowfall and road blockages, particularly at Lambagad, where Army personnel are working to clear the route. SDRF’s drone team is also on standby, but adverse weather conditions have made aerial surveillance difficult.
Authorities have obtained the exact coordinates of the avalanche-hit area, and once weather conditions improve, SDRF teams will be airlifted by helicopter to continue the search for the missing workers. Rescue operations are ongoing, with all possible resources being mobilized to evacuate the stranded workers safely.
