Uttarakhand Police Introduces New Amendments in Service Medals

DAINIK NATION BUREAU/DEHRADUN

Uttarakhand Police has made amendments in the medals awarded to its officers and personnel, bringing a fresh recognition system for their commendable service. With this the state police will now award a set of revised medals and commendation discs to recognize the outstanding contributions of its workforce including field and office personnel.

Previously, police officers were awarded the Governor’s Distinguished Service Medal, the Honorable Chief Minister’s Commendable Service Medal, the Distinguished/Commendable Service Emblem, and the Excellent Service Medal. In the latest revision, the police department has decided to introduce a new set of medals and discs, which include:

  1. Governor’s Distinguished Service Medal
  2. Honorable Chief Minister’s Commendable Service Medal
  3. Director General of Police’s Commendation Disc (Gold)
  4. Director General of Police’s Commendation Disc (Silver)

These newly defined awards aim to recognize the hard work and dedication of Uttarakhand’s police officers, particularly those working in challenging environments. According to the newly formulated Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the medals and discs will be distributed among both gazetted and non-gazetted officers, office staff, and field personnel.

Notably, special consideration has been given to those officers who perform their duties in high-altitude areas, a task that requires additional endurance and commitment. The department has outlined specific allocations of medals and commendation discs for these personnel, ensuring that their efforts in harsh terrains do not go unnoticed.

The revisions are part of an effort to boost morale and encourage excellence within the police force, ensuring that officers at all levels are acknowledged for their service. By recognizing both field staff and office employees, the Uttarakhand Police hopes to create a culture of appreciation and motivation throughout the department.

This decision is expected to reinforce the police department’s commitment to public service and strengthen the dedication of its officers to maintain law and order across the state, even in the most demanding conditions.
