“After Nomination Withdrawals, 55 Candidates Remain in Uttarakhand’s Five Lok Sabha Constituencies”
Following the conclusion of the nomination withdrawal process on Saturday, a total of 55 candidates are now left in the fray for the five Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttarakhand. In the Almora (SC) reserved constituency, independent candidate Arjun Kumar Dev withdrew from the contest on the last day of withdrawals.
V K Jogdande, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer (ACEO) of Uttarakhand, informed that the nomination process for all five LS seats in Uttarakhand has been completed. He mentioned that after the nomination process, there are 11 candidates in the Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency, 14 in Haridwar, 10 in Nainital, and seven in the Almora (SC) constituency.
Jogdande also highlighted that the Election Commission of India has ordered a ban on the publication and broadcasting of exit polls during the election process. This ban will be effective from 7 am on April 19 to 6.30 pm on June 1. Media outlets are required to ensure no exit polls are published during this period. Additionally, the publication and broadcasting of opinion polls will also be prohibited 48 hours before the end of the voting period.
