All arrangements are in place for the polling in urban local body elections to be held in the State on Sunday, said the State Election Commissioner Chandrashekhar Bhatt. He also informed that for the first time, the SEC had facilitated a mobile phone application to enable voters to get information about candidates contesting in the wards. This mobile phone application can be downloaded from the SEC website sec.uk.gov.in.
Bhatt further informed that using this application, one can also get to know the trends and results of the election on the day of counting of votes. The mobile phone application will also provide information about results of polls for the posts of mayor, municipal council chairperson, councillors and ward members.
The State Election Commissioner further informed that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure independent and fair elections in a transparent manner. Necessary instructions have also been issued to the officials concerned to ensure this. By Saturday evening, the polling parties will have reached their respective destinations. On the day of polling–Sunday-the time for voting has been fixed from 8 AM to 5 PM.
On the completion of polling, the personnel on duty will deposit the polling materials in the designated strong rooms on the same day.
Only after depositing the said materials will the personnel be considered free of their allocated duty, said the State Election Commissioner.
