Under the Udaan Project, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat jointly flagged off the trial landing of the air service from Jolly Grant Airport to Naini Saini, Pithoragarh on Monday. Home Minister said that considering the geographical location of Uttarakhand and expansion of air services to the border areas of the state are in the interest of the state and the country. He said that such efforts make movement convenient too. Chief Minister said that start of this air service will help in connecting Garhwal and Kumaon with air services and will also promote tourism. He said that to make the movement more accessible in the state, soon other air services will be started under the Udaan project. Chief Minister said that in Uttarakhand Investors Summit, investors have shown interest in operating affordable air services in the state. Soon, the expansion of air services in the state will start reflecting on the ground.
Union Minister for State Ajay Tamta, Member of Parliament Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Minister of State for Higher Education Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat and MLA Pushkar Singh Dhami left from Jolly Grant Airport to Naini Saini through this air service.
Other dignitaries including Vidhan Sabha Speaker Premchand Aggarwal, Finance Minister Prakash Pant, Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, State President of BJP Ajay Bhatt, MLA Harbans Kapoor, Munna Singh Chauhan, Suresh Rathore, Gopal Singh Rawat and Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh were present.
