39 girls rescued by Delhi Women Commission from trafficking in Paharganj

The Delhi Women Commission has freed 39 Nepalese girls from a hotel in the capital, allegedly being taken for smuggling in Gulf countries.

The commission said on Wednesday that Nepali girls were rescued from a hotel located in Paharganj on Tuesday night. They were brought there on the pretext of getting a job and were locked in the hotel. According to the Women’s Commission, human trafficking campaigns started from one o’clock late on Tuesday night and lasted till 6 o’clock in the morning.
The Commission’s President Swati Maliwal tweeted that these girls are from Nepal’s earthquake affected area and are economically weak. Giving information about the girls who had been released, she said, “They have no money at all. We are appealing to the Nepal government and non-governmental organizations working there to ensure jobs for these girls so that they do not become victims of such human trafficking rackets again. ”
On July 25, the Commission rescued 16 Nepali girls from Munirka area of ​​Delhi. In the last seven days, the Commission has saved 74 girls from the clutches of human smugglers in three campaigns.
